Essential Oil Spotlight: Ginger

Ginger and I have been on a very committed relationship throughout this pregnancy. In my last pregnancy, I wasn’t knowledgeable enough about oils in using them as remedies and missed out on a ton of natural remedies that could eased my pain. I went into this pregnancy knowing more about oils as well as pregnancy and knew nausea would find me again - and it did. This one wasn’t as bad but it lasted longer and I can say I am still battling it.

Ginger was one of those EO’s that helped me through this process. I had heard that ginger was known to be an amazing natural remedy for a ton but I really ended up using it because I saw it as a main ingredient on my Quease ease that they sent me home from the hospital with after my last pregnancy. Made up of essential oils, it had lavender, ginger and peppermint and as soon as I saw that and my botthles in my bedroom, I knew I could make my own concoction and there came Ginger. There were even times when I just sniffed Ginger by itself to help with nausea. I still had it but I really do think it tamed it for me so that everyday life was manageable.

Ginger is an amazing ingredient to support digestion and helps with indigestion as well as the wonders it does for nausea and motion sickness. Gingerol is the main bioactive compound in ginger, responsible for much of its medicinal properties. It has powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant effects *

In addition to being your bestfriend through pregnancy, it also helps with soothing sore muscles as it has anti-inflammatory properties.

I use ginger mainly topically however there are users out there that pop a drop of it in their tea to help digestion from the inside.

AS ALWAYS I AM NOT A HOLISTIC EXPERT OR MEDICAL PROFESSIONAL SO TAKE MY ADVICE AS JUST THAT AND NOT A PRESCRIPTION :)

I purchase my oils through YoungLiving but there are a ton of EO companies out here. Find one that works for you but if you want my link to YoungLiving just drop a note in the comments.
