Just the Essentials Book Review
I am hitting those 2018 goals hard! My goal this year is to finish one book every month. I've seen more ambitious targets like one a week but given that I only finished four books last year, I thought this was ambitious enough for me!
I am hoping that with this goal, I can bring more book reviews for you guys and now I am publicly holding myself accountable.
As you know, I am obsessed with essential oils. Besides their natural benefits and the fact that they make my home smell great, these little bottles have more power to them than we would know. I have plenty of amazing resources with friends who love essential oils and instagram accounts I follow that share information. However, I am someone that needs to dive in and learn more by myself so that I know what I am slathering myself in (especially now that I am also slathering a little human).
I think I came across Just the Essentials: How Essential Oils Can Heal Your Skin, Improve Your Health, and Detox Your Life through the Glowing Up Podcast. The ladies were talking about natural skincare and they had Adina Grigore (owner of SW Basics) as a guest speaker on their podcast. Adina has written two books on natural products; Just the Essentials and Skin Cleanse: The Simple, All-Natural Program for Clear, Calm, Happy Skin<-- next on my list.
Her writing style is humorous yet informative. I didn't feel like I was reading a novel on the chemical makeup of all these oils. The light style of the book actually got me even more interested in essential oils and how they were made and their history.
The book goes through the history of essential oils, the difference between oils in the market (education on making you a savvy buyer) and the numerous different benefits of the more popular oils. My favorite part of the whole book is the back section with all these amazing recipes! It's like a mini potion book for you to start experimenting with your oils.
I recommend this book to anybody who is interested in oils so that you aren't spending a ton of money on oils by just diffusing them but really understand how these little potions to work for your health benefits. I have found uses that I never thought were possible and I invite you to do the same!
Diffusing oils is amazing however being a witch and making potions is even more fun ;)
